The swim was quite nice in clear 18C water. No congestion and other than my goggles leaking...time for new ones....it was somewhat slow (+41 mins) but I felt good getting it done and onto my bike!
The bike course was awesome...I passed dozens of other riders and only one passed me...the 30 to 35 age group were behind me so it was one of those speedies blowing by me! The P3C performed great and a time of 2:39 for the 95 K was better than I expected. A very senic route and I saw Lorna a couple of time cheering me on which was great! A quick transition to the run and I began the run feeling strong and wanting to run a fast 1/2 marathon. But my plantar issue was still there and Coach Joe's advise was to take it slooooow. I did have some leg cramping issues mostly due to my usual dehydration and no salt tabs....two issues that I have to get resolved for IMC! This was my "B" race and part of my IMC plan so I ended up finishing with a slow 2:04 half and 5:32 overall....23 out of 102 in my age group so I was happy with that....and a little soreness in my foot but no further damage was done...bring on Ironman Canada in 4 weeks!
